ZERO flexibility or consideration. Missed flight, lose entire value. Start from scratch. Astonished that an airline that claims to be serving their customers would treat me this way. I travel through Europe at least 6-10 times a year from Asia. I will now route through Frankfurt, Munich, Paris, London, Vienna, Instanbul or even Moscow before ever going through Zurich again. I encourage anyone making travel plans to be very careful when considering flights with Swiss Airlines. Austrian Airlines should be kinder to its passengers making connecting flights. The gate agent at HAM was also unable to do this for us, such that we had to speak at the gate in Frankfurt to try to get seats and boarding cards. This was of course a source of unnecessary stress…Flight from SFO-Frankfurt was suddenly cancelled. Was on the phone for a long time being bounced back and forth between Kayak and Lufthansa, only for us to have an 18-hr layover in Frankfurt. This incident was poorly handled and we will not be usinh Kayak in the was chaotic since they were short staffed. Staff had to board a different flight before boarding our flight, which made our take off late. However the captain made up most of the time in flight. The steward and stewardesses were outstanding, friendly and helpful. The airline also helped us with the transfer. I’m not sure we would have made it in time by plane felt brand new. Crew was friendly and nice. And it was non-stop to San Diego!Seats had no padding. Uncomfortable. I had to help the passenger sitting next to me cuz he didn’t know how to do anything and didn’t speak English, he was an older man, with signs I was able to show him how an airplane works. I never complain about flights but this one was tooo many little things. Oh and what about an international flight where I have to pay for a second bag! Really? I did it on my way to Europe and I thought I payed both and then I had to do it again. Whatever money I thought I could save was a lie because I ended up paying a lot more adding the bags and additional transportation for home based on the airports. The gate agent seemed to be completely lost and at one point started boarding and then had to ask those that had boarded to deplane. In general all went well, but checking in for the last leg, from Frankfurt to sfo, wasn’t possible in advance online, for unclear reasons. The gate agent at HAM was also unable to do this for us, such that we had to speak at the gate in Frankfurt to try to get seats and boarding cards. This was of course a source of unnecessary stress…Flight from SFO-Frankfurt was suddenly cancelled. Was on the phone for a long time being bounced back and forth between Kayak and Lufthansa, only for us to have an 18-hr layover in Frankfurt. This incident was poorly handled and we will not be usinh Kayak in the was chaotic since they were short staffed. Staff had to board a different flight before boarding our flight, which made our take off late. However the captain made up most of the time in flight. The steward and stewardesses were outstanding, friendly and helpful. The airline also helped us with the transfer. I’m not sure we would have made it in time by plane felt brand new. Crew was friendly and nice. And it was non-stop to San Diego!Seats had no padding. Uncomfortable.
